Classic Cut Waistcoat in Minerva Blue Merino Wool Doeskin

A Classic Cut waistcoat in an unusual blue in a sumptuously soft pure merino wool flannel from AW Hainsworth. This is a fabric that really grabs you when you see and handle it – hence its name, Doeskin! 

The term ‘Doeskin’ originated from the similar appearance and feel of the fabric to the skin of a female deer. Along with the practical purpose for allowing rain to run off the surface in the direction of the nap, the light is captured on the face finish and bounces off the surface to create a lustrous sheen.

A warmer weight textile, this fabric has a magnificent handle and a wonderful colouring.  Made from 100% Merino tightly milled wool which we also offer in a delicious gold.

This outer is available to order in sizes 36" to 54", with any of our collar types.

We suggest two alternative linings for this outer, a Gold Viscose from our own selection or, should you want to pump things up a notch, a Pewter silk from EdNerat. If you prefer something else altogether, you are free to choose from our full range of linings which you can see on the Linings page. If you are selecting an alternative to the linings we have put forward, please advise us of your choice in the comments at checkout.

A silk lining will add £30 to the listed price.

Outside we suggest a Navy Corozo button for this outer, as shown in the pictures. You are of course free to chose others.

The Maker

This outer has been woven carefully in Yorkshire by the wonderful AW Hainsworth who have been busy weaving cloth since 1783. Best known (perhaps) for clothing royalty and dressing the military for full-dress ceremonial occasions, their cloth has embellished and enriched the furnishings of palaces across the world for centuries.
